Matt Dickinson
Matt Dickinson is a writer and award-winning film maker with an enduring (and sometimes dangerous) fascination for the world of exploration and mountaineering. He has filmed more than forty expeditions in extreme environments such as Antarctica, the Sahara Desert, and the Himalayas. His life has often been endangered on these shoots, and he has been fortunate to have survived an avalanche, high-speed train derailment and a bandit attack amongst other ‘hairy’ moments!
In 1996 he became one of the first British climbers to make an ascent to the summit of Mount Everest via the perilous and technically demanding North Face. His films have been broadcast by National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, the BBC and Channel 4, and have won numerous international film festival awards.
Matt writes for both adults and young adults. His titles include Death Zone—Matt’s real life account of his Everest ascent—and young adult thriller titles, Mortal Chaos.
