Supporting ALL children with learning maths
Breaking Barriers is for one-on-one or small group intervention aimed at children aged seven onwards who need to revisit content or have individual programmes based on earlier curriculum content from KS1 ideas. This resource focuses on the early foundation concepts in maths first taught to children in year 1.
Written and created to be extremely versatile, it contains a diagnostic assessment, which pin points activities that can be used to build a tailored programme or support gap teaching. This is a particularly useful tool for children who are moving to years 2 or year 3, may have developed gaps in their learning and understanding of mathematical concepts taught, or missed maths lessons due to school closures. The resources include expert advice on making number ideas accessible and show coherent teaching progression with support for planning and assessment.
Breaking Barriers can also support teachers of children who experience particular difficulties learning primary maths, such as SpLD, dyslexia, and dyscalculia.
