The 2023 Reading Framework makes multiple references to ‘Reading Miles’ and makes clear that, after phonics instruction, providing as many opportunities as possible for children to read is the single most important and beneficial thing that schools can do. Reading independently helps children build fluency and become self-reliant readers.
