Richard Fosbery
Throughout his career, Richard Fosbery has always tried to give his students as much experience of practical Biology as possible. In his writing he would say that he has a mission to explain the main principles of his subject. Richard started his teaching career in Jamaica. For many years he was Head of Biology at a boys’ school in the UK.
Richard is author of several textbooks for A-level and IGCSE: Co-author of Essential Science for Cambridge Lower Secondary, Co-author of Essential Biology for Cambridge IGCSE and Author or Exam Success in Biology AS & A Level. He also led teams of authors who wrote biology textbooks for the CSEC and CAPE syllabuses of the Caribbean Examinations Council. Most recently, Richard has written Complete Biology for Cambridge International AS & A Level: Student Book (Third Edition).
Richard was a Chief Examiner for several post-16 syllabuses including a major A-level in the UK. He has run many successful courses to support teachers of A-level Biology, mainly in the UK, but also in Saudi Arabia, Oman, Malaysia, Indonesia and Spain. For many years he tutored an online course for teachers of the Cambridge International Examinations AS/A Level Biology syllabus.
He now divides his time between running teachers’ courses, examining, writing and teaching. He also runs study and revision days for A-level Biologists in schools.
