Suzanne Doering
Suzanne Doering has 12 years of experience teaching Mathematics, including seven years teaching and examining in the IB DP and MYP programmes.
Originally from the United States, Suzanne earned dual degrees in Mathematics and History from Indiana University, and a Master’s in Mathematics from the University of Chicago. Suzanne taught for a number of years in Chicago before venturing into international education at the United World College of Maastricht, Netherlands. She currently teaches at the American School of Warsaw in Poland.
Suzanne was drawn to Mathematics because she loved solving challenging puzzles. As a teacher she aims to find what makes maths as exciting, meaningful and satisfying for each of her students as it is for her. Having taught students from a variety of backgrounds – in public, independent and international schools, from ages 12 to 19, and at the DP Level in Mathematical Studies through Further Mathematics – Suzanne has a keen interest in giving students from all backgrounds accessible and meaningful opportunities to engage in mathematical thinking. She is excited for the opportunities that the new Mathematics: applications and interpretation courses offer for students to engage with maths in contemporary and realistic contexts.
Suzanne is an IB Mathematical Studies examiner and IA moderator, and a contributor to the most recent DP Mathematics curriculum review. She is an author and consultant for OUP’s forthcoming Mathematics: applications and interpretation SL and HL Course Books.
