The Evolution of Science Education

Preparing children for the challenges our world will face in the future

The scientific challenges of the past year mean that there has never been a more important time to focus on science, empowering students to thrive in a changing world

At the start of 2021, teachers and experts around the world responded to our survey, telling us what they believe is the core purpose of science education, how science is taught currently and the direction they feel the future of science education is heading.

The five key questions were:

What should the core purpose of science education be?

How well does current science education prepare learners?

What are the biggest challenges that students might face in their future that science education should prepare them for?

What new skills and competencies do students need to develop to address these challenges?

What impact has the global Covid pandemic had on science education?

The responses, insights and comments received have formed the basis of the Evolution of Science Education Report 2021.
