A smooth transition between key stages of the learning journey
The Oxford International Standardized Assessments are a series of digital assessments for English, English as a Second Language, maths, and science, to complement the Oxford International Curriculum. Standardized for content and administration, these external onscreen assessments are designed to support teachers’ evaluation of knowledge and skills at key points in learners’ progression – at age 10-11 and 13-14.
Endorsed and certified by the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education.
Help shape the future of assessment
Assessments that are standardized for framework, administration, and marking to ensure valid, reliable and fair results.
Standardized assessments allow comparison across groups, classes and schools. Teachers can then see how their children are doing compared to others.
Note that only schools within your school group will be able to see your school’s top level results. Detailed class and student information will only be available to your school. If you are not in a school group then no other school will see your results.
You can download individual student certificates to share with your students digitally. We do not send physical copies but if you wish to print them then you are welcome to do so.
The quality and reliability of the tests is aligned with the standards and expectations of the University of Oxford, a world-leading institution. Students will also receive certification from the University, which is recognised and respected globally.
The OISA tests focus on the content of Oxford International Curriculum covered in Year 6 (end of primary) and Year 9 (end of lower secondary) respectively. They are available for maths, science, English, and ESL.

The tests assess mastery of content of the Oxford International Curriculum. However, they can be used by test-takers who have studied the English National Curriculum.
Due to the human marking element we still have a set assessment window of April and May, but the tests can be taken at any time during that period – enabling you to work around your students and your school calendar.
Oxford International Standardized Assessments come with a Familiarisation Test that is intended to help prepare your school and pupils with what's to come during the tests. In addition, these tests should be used for diagnostic, as well as summative, purposes; therefore, whatever children score will help their educational journey.
The tests are authored and built to support screen-reader compatibility and avoid reliance on audio. Teachers can allot extra time to individual learners and the player can be configured to allow light-on-dark text display and to control zoom.

There will be Year 6 and Year 9 writing papers, which are suitable for students taking ESL or English. Speaking assessment is not part of the Oxford International Standardized Assessments, but OUP offers a range of English Language Assessments aimed at reporting against CEFR, which are fully tailored for four-skills assessment
There will be no cost during our Pioneer Programme. From September 2025, assessments will be charged at a per-pupil rate. Schools will only pay for the number of assessments they need.
